insects as feed for fish in bangladesh
Many fish farms use soy meal for their fish. However, insects are becoming an interesting alternative with a much lower environmental pressure.
A young entrepreneur in Bangladesh is looking for the opportunities to breed the Black Soldier Fly as feed for fish. The breeding could take place in the neighbourhood of the fish farm and can use the organic waste of the people. In that way, waste can be reused as a valuable source for the Black Soldier Flies, which on their turn can be a good replacement for the soy meal.
Insectsforall is supporting the entrepreneur to investigate the feasibility and to start up a pilot. The actual results are quite promising.
The project will be financially supported by the Blue Gold Program (http://www.bluegoldbd.org/).
